The Scottish Sports Hall of Fame was established by sportscotland in 2002 to recognise and honour the many great champions this country has produced.

The Scottish Sports Hall of Fame celebrates and pays tribute to Scotland’s iconic sports men and women, and hopes to inspire future generations.

An independent selection panel, consisting of experts from across the sporting spectrum, considers every nomination which is received to decide which sporting heroes are inducted to the Hall of Fame. There are currently 101 inductees after the most recent round of inductions.

The founding patrons of the Hall of Fame were HRH The Princess Royal, Lord McConnell (First Minister 2001-2007) and Sir Jackie Stewart OBE, who was one of the first inductees and is still a patron.

You can find out more about the inductees at this website and at the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh where you can also see sporting memorabilia associated with some of Scotland’s sporting stars. Items on display include Old Tom Morris’s golf club, the swimmer Ian Black’s BBC Sports Personality of the Year trophy and poolside dressing gown made from tartan towels, and one of Billy Bremner’s Scotland international caps.
