Sir Chris Hoy MBE
Cycling
Sir Chris is the most decorated British Olympian of all time and the most successful Olympic cyclist ever, with six Olympic, 11 world and two Commonwealth titles to his name. He won his first Olympic gold medal at Athens 2004, and four years later in Beijing became Scotland’s most successful Olympian – and the first Brit since 1908 to win three gold medals at a single Games.

Shirley Robertson OBE
Sailing
Shirley made it into the history books by becoming the first British woman to win two Olympic gold medals at consecutive Games – a long way from when she first started sailing aged seven in a dinghy built by her father. Shirley collected silver medals at the 1998, 1999 and 2000 Europe Class World Championships and competed in the 1992 Barcelona Games and 1996 Atlanta Games. When the Olympics came around in 2000, Shirley proved that she’d mastered the Europe class by winning gold in Sydney.

Sir Ian originally trained as a PE teacher, but a passion for rugby that had been clear from an early age took over – and the rest, as they say, is history. He also toured with the British and Irish Lions in 1974 and 1977, making a total of 30 appearances in the famous red jersey.
